Gentoo Matchbox
Matchbox is a base environment for the X Window System running on non-desktop embedded platforms such as handhelds, set-top boxes, kiosks and anything else for which screen space, input mechanisms or system resources are limited.
As of March. 13th 2006, ebuilds for Matchbox are included in Gentoo’s Portage tree. 
Before that, I tried to become an official Gentoo developer maintaining Matchbox stuff, but I wasn’t accepted as a developer. End of story.
